# Connect your AI tool to Payabli

> Learn how to add the Payabli MCP server to your AI tool and sign in to ask about your payments data

Connect your AI tool to the Payabli MCP server to ask about your organization's Pay In and Pay Out activity in plain language. To learn what data the server returns and how access works, see [Payabli MCP server overview](/guides/platform-mcp-server-overview).

> **Note**
>
> You need a Payabli Portal user with organization-level access and multi-factor authentication (MFA) set up. Your AI tool must support remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in. To set up MFA, see [Manage multi-factor authentication](/guides/platform-portal-user-profile-manage#manage-multi-factor-authentication).

## Add the Payabli MCP server

Each organization has its own server URL, which includes your Payabli Portal entry name:

```txt
 https://mcp.payabli.com/<entry>/mcp
```

To find your entry name, open the Payabli Portal sign-in page and look at its URL. The entry name is the part after `app.payabli.com/`. For example, if you sign in at `https://app.payabli.com/acme/signin`, your entry name is `acme`, and your server URL is `https://mcp.payabli.com/acme/mcp`. If the entry name is wrong, the Payabli sign-in fails.

Open the section for your AI tool and follow the steps. To connect your company's own AI agent or chatbot instead, contact your Payabli representative.

#### Claude

These steps apply to Claude on the web and Claude Desktop.

**Pro and Max plans:**

1. In Claude, navigate to **Customize > Connectors**.
2. Click **Add custom connector**.
3. Enter these values:
   * **Name**: Payabli
   * **Remote MCP server URL**: your server URL
4. Click **Add**.

**Team and Enterprise plans:** An organization owner adds the connector in **Organization settings > Connectors** with the same values. Then each user signs in with their own Payabli credentials.

#### Claude Code

1. Run this command in your terminal:

   ```bash
   claude mcp add --transport http payabli https://mcp.payabli.com/<entry>/mcp
   ```

2. Start Claude Code and run `/mcp`.

3. Select **payabli**, then select **Authenticate**.

#### Cursor

1. Open the `mcp.json` file in your project's `.cursor` directory. Create the directory and the file if they don't exist.

2. Add this configuration:

   **`mcp.json`**

   ```json mcp.json
   {
     "mcpServers": {
       "payabli": {
         "url": "https://mcp.payabli.com/<entry>/mcp"
       }
     }
   }
   ```

3. Save the file and restart Cursor.

4. In **Cursor Settings > MCP**, click **Connect** next to **payabli**.

## Sign in to Payabli

The first time your AI tool connects, it opens a Payabli sign-in page in your browser.

1. Enter the email and password that you use for the Payabli Portal.
2. Enter your MFA code.
3. Return to your AI tool after the page confirms that you're signed in.

Your session lasts up to 24 hours. When it ends, your AI tool asks you to sign in again.

## Ask a question

Ask in plain language. Your questions are about the organization that you signed in to and all of its sub-organizations, unless you name one sub-organization. Your AI tool can ask for your permission the first time that it runs each tool.

| Try asking | What it returns |
| --------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `Show my most recent batches` | Pay In settlement batches, with amounts, dates, and status |
| `List my transactions since May 1, 2026`      | Pay In transactions from May 1, 2026, to today                     |
| `Which card disputes need a reply this week?` | Chargebacks with a response deadline this week |
| `Which bills are waiting for approval?` | Vendor bills that were sent for approval |
| `Show this week's payouts to vendors` | Payouts from this week, with amounts, status, and payment method |
| `How is my organization structured?` | Your organization tree, with sub-organizations and paypoint counts |
